1984
Samir Eid, coming from a family of bakers, was more than just a baker – he was a visionary. He founded Honeytop Speciality Foods in Hackney, London, with a mission to introduce breads of the world to a new audience.
1989
Honeytop became the first company to market naan bread and tortilla wraps commercially. Samir’s sons, William and Charles Eid, took over Honeytop in 1989 and 1994, respectively, continuing the mission of introducing ‘Breads of the World’ to the UK market.
1994
Naan breads started to become increasingly popular. ‘Clean room technology’ was pioneered by Signature Flatbreads, helping the company to become market first leaders in the supply of long-life ethnic products.
1999
Honeytop relocated to larger premises in Dunstable to accommodate increasing customer demand and product range.
2000
First to market with folded flatbreads.
2008
Expanded into tortilla, crumpet and pancake production.
2009
Our bakery in India opens. Signature Foods Ltd. was established in India, capitalising on a lack of large scale suppliers of quality Indian breads. The company now caters to the domestic market and exports to the near and far east.
